My friend Duane (this guy above) makes tube clocks (Nixie clocks), guitar amps, processors, pedals… he is rather handy with circuitry and a soldering gun. Duane also runs and sound engineers the Kansas City-based recording studio Weights + Measures Soundlab.
If you’d like a clock made as a gift or for yourself, drop me a line. They range in price from $350-600 depending on box type and application. If you have a specific cigar box in mind mention it in the email, I can usually track on down at Outlaw Cigar. Or just call (816) 200-3417. Clocks takes 3-4 weeks to produce.
A Nixie tube, or cold cathode display, is an electronic device for displaying numerals or other information using glow discharge. Inside a Nixie tube the glass tube contains a wire-mesh anode and multiple cathodes, shaped like numerals or other symbols. Applying power to one cathode surrounds it with an orange glow discharge. The tube is filled with a gas at low pressure, usually mostly neon and often a little mercury or argon, in a Penning mixture.
